Privacy

Last updated 8 October 2026

The short version: you can use the whole site without telling us who you are. There's no sign-up, no mailing list and no advertising tracking. Analytics cookies are only used if you click Accept.

What we collect

  • Website analytics (Microsoft Clarity). We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used so we can improve the guides. Clarity records interaction events such as page views, clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and typing, along with device and browser details, and can rebuild a visit as a replay (a session recording). Clarity masks the content of privacy-sensitive fields. Clarity only runs if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you accept, it sets first- and third-party cookies holding a random (pseudonymous) ID, so it can link the pages viewed in one visit and recognise a returning browser. If you decline or ignore the banner, Clarity isn't loaded and no analytics cookies are set. It doesn't give us your name or contact details. Microsoft/Clarity also has access to analytics data, which is stored using Microsoft's Azure cloud infrastructure. See what Clarity collects, Clarity cookies and Microsoft's privacy statement.
  • Suggestions and feedback. If you use the practitioner suggestion form or the feedback form, the details you enter are stored in a private Google Form (see Google's privacy policy). Your email is optional. If you give it, we use it only to check your suggestion.
  • The eligibility explorer. Your answers stay in your browser. They aren't saved or sent anywhere.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent or share personal information for marketing.
  • We don't ask for health information, service numbers or DVA file numbers. Please don't include them in a suggestion.
  • We don't pass your details to DVA or to any business listed on the site.

Cookies

  • Analytics cookies (optional). Microsoft Clarity cookies such as _clck and _clsk (first-party) and MUID/CLID (Microsoft, third-party). Set only after you click Accept. Up to about 1 year.
  • Your cookie choice. We remember whether you accepted or declined in your browser's local storage (vkh_consent) so we don't ask on every page. It isn't sent to us.
  • We don't use advertising, social media or marketing cookies.

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings (also in the footer). Declining switches Clarity off and clears its cookies on this site.

Your choices

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. To have a suggestion you sent removed, use the feedback form to ask, and include the practice name.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you have a concern you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
